About IbisVision

IbisVision is a comprehensive vision platform that combines clinical experience and disruptive technology to allow opticians to carry out multiple eye exams on a single cloud-based platform. After working on our initial product development for the past few years, we are now looking to take IbisVision to the next level. This means we will be advancing our technology for both opticians in the UK and internationally.
 
We are a small team based out of Glasgow focused on bringing our innovative technology to our target market. The Lead Developer Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Developer to join an early stage, but established business with excellent backing and highly experienced leadership.  The successful candidate will be reporting to the COO, making this is an excellent opportunity to gain a wide amount of exposure and gain valuable experience.

You will be leading the development of the IbisVision platform and as such your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with other team functions such as a product delivery, sales and operations to ensure that product development is delivered on time and to high standards
  • Managing and mentoring new  developers, setting development standards and sharing knowledge and best practice
  • Working and collaborating with our extended external development team
  • Creating and developing technical solutions to complex problems
  • Working as a senior member of an agile development team to develop, test and maintain the comprehensive vision platform by IbisVision
  • Influence system architecture and design decisions together with the development team
  • Set up and maintain (cloud) infrastructure components and pipelines
  • Designing and developing tests
  • Peer-review of code
  • Reporting on project progress to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Continual learning of technologies and skills
 
About You

An excellent coder, you will be keen to develop the skills in those around you and lead by example.  Focused and results orientated you will enjoy the satisfaction of solving problems and creating elegant technical solutions in an Agile environment.  You will have a passion for coding and the desire to join a company where you will have exposure to a breadth of technologies and opportunities.  You will enjoy learning and researching tools and technologies then selecting the best combinations.  You will already have helped to make design and architectural decisions and be confident making technical decisions.
 
Essential technical skills include:
  • High level of coding proficiency in at least one object-oriented language
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Ability to work with any SQL dialect
  • Git
  • Linux (Server)
  • Building RESTful APIs
  • Experience with a cloud platform (i.e. AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM)
  • Understanding of programming patterns
 
Desirable skills for this role include:
  • Experience of C#, ASP .NET (Core), Entity Framework, Ruby, Rails, Angular, React, Postman and any test automation framework such as xUnit, RSpec or MiniTest 
  • Experience in integration of a tele-conference solution would also be desirable. 
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment. In particular, working to ISO Accreditations 14971 and 62304 for medical device software.

Location

The IbisVision office is centrally located next to Buchanan Street, with NCP parking 100m from the building and the 2 main train stations in Glasgow within a 5-10 minute walking distance.
